No video here, just pure, simple stop motion. It took approximately 1,200 pictures.
Taken in Osaka, Japan. Stripping down to my underwear to change multiple times garnered a lot of strange looks -- but it was well worth it in the end, I suppose.
Music by Aphex Twin.

Many men make futile, stabbing attempts at greatness, only to be rebuffed like gnats flying repeatedly into a plexi-glass generated reflection of themselves. Other men achieve greatness, and sit behind the plexi-glass barrier of success, sipping on cane sugar caipirinhas and watching gnats kamikaze futilely from the other side. Klaus Wolfenstein falls into the latter category, and his tale is one of carefully measured immeasurability.

This music video is an abstract journey in our everyday surroundings, illustrating moments of life in a continuous way.
A trip into 4500 still photographs, a travel where urban landscapes meet pastoral scenes to create a whirlpool around the theme of the video: the subjective point of view and urban life.
This video was created with a stop motion technique, it was conceived with a very simple Nikon Coolpix E4600. There is no video in it, but not less than 4500 still photos taken in the streets of Nancy and Epinal (France).

I shot this interview with Russell Barden, with Geoff Charters assisting, partly on the Letus Extreme - with a 50mm Nikon, wearing a polarizer - and a wide angle on the X1. The is the first stage of a long project we're doing for Surf Life Saving Queensland, showing the diversity of this charity organization. It will take us from the beaches, to the mines of Mount Isa. The thrust of this piece - one of 30 profiles - is that while Surf Life Saving is re-known for saving lives, it also gives people lives. The movement takes its name from Saving Lives. But what about the lives it gives. Russell Barden was born in 1916, the same week his beloved Maroochydore was founded as a Club. But it took 66 years before this boy from the outback scrub of NSW swam for his Bronze Medallion. Russell lost his “best mate” Joyce to the heart-wrenching slow ravages of cancer. But through Surf Life Saving, he’s found new mates; a new life; and a new purpose. In the West, our elderly are often forgotten, and left lonely. SLS embraces all people, from all walks of life. It is not just about young bronzed Australian iron men. And for that, it does its sponsors proud. I wanted to explore this angle in this piece. The production will also be rolled out under our platinumHD.tv banner (the site is now under construction under the direction of Aaron Meehan) as we diversify into more lifestyle-orientated markets. But that's another story.

"I no longer think being in love is the polar opposite of being alone, however. I say that because I used to want to be in love again as I assumed this was the opposite of loneliness. I think being in love is an opposite of loneliness, but not the opposite. There are other things I now crave when I am lonely, like community, like friendship, like family. I think our society puts too much pressure on romantic love, and that is why so many romances fail. Romance can’t possibly carry all that we want it to." - Donald Miller
Sebby,
I got you something, but I wanted to surprise you in a creative way, rather than just telling you. Enjoy!
Love your friend,
Karen

Metamorphosis is programmed entirely in Processing, it’s the follow up to my Music is Math video. I developed my ‘zeno’ animation system a bit more to allow for nebulous additive blending as well as a few other things. The music is by Boards of Canada again - the track ‘Corsair’ from the Geogaddi album. Further info on this video at butterfly.ie

Animated light paintings of a little piano player performing. Filmed at night with the lovely I-5 and San Diego skyline in the background. I would like to thank everyone for the fantastic feedback I have received lately. To answer a few questions, I wrote the music and recorded it first. The frames were photographed with a Canon Rebel using 20-30 second exposure time. I used a small green LED keychain light to draw each frame. Once all the positions were photographed they were strung together and synchronized to the music in After Effects.

This music video directed by OneInThree for 'Wild Beasts' second single of their debut album 'Limbo Panto' is a mesmerising & hypnotic tour de force. It pioneers an amazing mind bending visual technique called the 'Droste Effect' which is based on an uncompleted lithograph that Escher made in 1956. The maths behind the lithograph was so complicated that Escher was unable to finish the centre of the picture and so left it blank. OneInThree developed the technique from Josh Sommers code so that it could be applied to moving images. OneInThree did all the VFX themselves apart from a grade & online at The Mill .

Thu, 21 Aug 2008 14:25:36 -0400

This is a movie we made for the Grandeur Nature film festival (www.festivalgrandeurnature.com), last year. It was intended to be projected as an appetizer before 35mm feature films
The idea was to emphasize the landscape beauty, and to propose an original point of view of this Alps region, as far as timelapse is...
Some shots are boring, some others beautiful...
As there is no end credits, here is a quick list of people involved into it :
• Shots were made by : Stephan Bonnefoy, Didier Mallet, Jan Karel Lameer (www.timelapse.nl), Xavier Gilles, Mathias Catala, and myself.
• Image processing & color timing was done by myself
• Editing was made by Laurent Frappa and myself
• Musics are from :
- Transvaal (www.myspace.com/transvaalmusic)
- Umaano (www.myspace.com/umaano)
- Silvano Mercado
Please note that the original file you can download is far better than the recompressed online version, and will play natively at 25FPS, without the really bad online 24 FPS conversion.
(In case you reached this video via an album or group, please load the regular page to see the download link, on the right side, under stats : vimeo.com/1562621)
Please also note that despite this free high quality download, every shot in this movie is copyrighted, and therefore can't be used for any purpose without full consent of the authors.

I made this stop motion to promote global warming awareness. Sometimes the simplest messages are the most powerful, so I've tried to present a child-like view of a serious problem. I enjoyed making this and I hope you enjoy watching it.
