At Disneyland, they have this thing where you can talk to the turtle from Finding Nemo. Of all the kids in the audience, of course they chose Jonas (and me). It was pretty special. Oh and the background chatter is our little Miss Willa.

Shot on my old Sony Hi8 while visiting the WTC in 1998.
Seems eerie watching it now.
My heart goes out to all those that were affected on that shocking day 9/11/01.
Can't even imagine what people in NY went through on that day and what so many are still going through even now.
Uploaded for my SkyScraper Group vimeo.com/skyscrapers
Excuse the poor shots and shaky camera work...

That's My King!That's My King!
Thu, 11 Sep 2008 00:31:03 -0400

Visuals set to the audio of the famous sermon "Seven Way King" as spoken by Dr. S.M. Lockridge. The audio is slightly edited for a better flow in the video.
The music in the background was performed live by the GCC band while the video played on the screens. It then led directly into the worship song "Here is Our King" (To see the performance in it's entirety go here: gccwired.com/mediaplayer/playeropener.asp?id=478 )
Created entirely using After Effects with footage from the movie "The Passion of the Christ". The video took 30 hours to create plus around 6 hours of rendering. The final After Effects project file totaled well over 600 layers.

A pitch for the OVO project. We were comissioned by the OVO team to do a :30 spot about the life of ATTILA the Hun. Altough, our style wasn't what they were looking for, we like the end result.

Using Photographs to Enhance Videos of a Static SceneUsing Photographs to Enhance Videos of a Static Scene
Sat, 23 Aug 2008 01:57:00 -0400

*Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments. They are really encouraging.*
The work presents a system for automatically producing a wide variety of video enhancements and visual effects. Unlike traditional visual effects software (e.g., After Effects, Shake, Boujou, etc), the system is completely automatic and no manual labor is required from the user. The major limitation of the work is that it can currently handle only videos of static scenes (i.e., videos shot with a moving camera but containing no moving objects in the scene). Efforts are being made to lift this restriction in future work.
Applications of the system include:
High resolution/definition video,
High dynamic range video,
Removing objects from a video,
Creating painterly (NPR) videos,
Video stabilization,
Easy video editing

Riding The Blackhawk - DECLASSIFIEDRiding The Blackhawk - DECLASSIFIED
Thu, 31 Jul 2008 16:27:05 -0400

I shot this on the Z1P a year ago, mainly in B/W, but never got around to cutting in. My colleagues in crime (Charters & Moulton) inspired me to get it done. I'm launching it as a tribute to the guys from the Australian Forces who serve, cut to the Gladiator re-mix. Many of our servicemen and women serve overseas; we rarely get a candid glimpse - a film-maker's view - of the 'up close and personal' of what they do: like, riding in a Blackhawk. All we normally get is news footage. So. I wanted to shoot in kind'a in an artistic fashion. We were only invited to shoot it as part of the force's involvement in INDY @ the Gold Coast. Sarah Estela got me a ride. It was awesome. One of my dreams is to shoot this type of stuff in a war zone; but I am a little away from this. I got the application to go to Iraq but I'd need a media organization behind me. And a star to do the tour: Gary Who? Maybe one day soon. Anyway. All on the SONY Z1P. Still. A fantastic camera. Thanks to the ARMY for saving me a seat. I cut this in sequence. What you see is what you get. And I must say I'm getting the shits with people bagging the US. We wouldn't be here without them so let's cut the short memories and back 'em through the thick and the thin. Friendship isn't always plain sailing so let's not be fair-weather friends. Thank you America.

CERN RapCERN Rap

Rappin' about CERN's Large Hadron Collider! Links below...
There has been a lot of interest in the original mp3, lyrics, and vocals for remixing. You can find all that here:
msu.edu/~mcalpin9/lhc_rap...
There's also been interest in translation. You can get a subtitle-free version from Vimeo here (downloadable):
vimeo.com/1730771
With backing track available here (with and without Hawking-style voice):
barras.ws/rappin.html
Go ahead and translate, rap it, and post it! Just give us a shout-out, and it's probably a good idea to include the following credits ;-)
Images came from:
particlephysics.ac.uk, space.com, the Institute of Physics, NASA, Symmetry, and Marvel
I forgot Einstein Online, and they called me out: einstein-online.info
The talented dancers doubled as camera people, with some work by Neil Dixon. Stock footage is CERN's.
Will Barras is responsible for the killa beats:

And thanks to MC Hawking, who first thought of using computer-voice to bring Stephen Hawking to the world of rap :-)

The rapper has a day job (we agree this is a good thing) as a science writer.

The Jerk with Steve Martin and this woman, also features my computer mouse. it does not feature midi controllers or any other shitty software instruments. everything was performed line in, live. except for vocals obviously and the shaker and whitewood clav tracks. only did one take on everything, hence the drag out of the drum track and synthesizer.
original audio from the jerk 1979 included male and female vocals, wave crash dubs, ukulele and trumpet

coExist is a very popular theme for art schools in israel.
tried to do something else with it rather than the obvious reality...
took a month to make the puppet and set, which left one night for animation. pretty poor movement but overall i was pleased.
