This group performs for tourist on restaurant terraces in St.Lucia and here at the arrivaldeck from a hippo boattour on St.Lucia River at sunset. They sing and swing really great just like the other famous Zulugroup Ladysmith Black Mombazo this music style is called Isicathamiya. Made famous by Paul Simon. They rehearse a lot and we hope to make them famous also. Help them please if you can. We also produced this time a CD for them and next time a DVD also for selling to the tourists.
Please also search for "Khula Happy Singers" on YouTube for our one year old clip as promo for a great and very affordable B&B in St.Lucia. Spring on the Kancamagus - Letus Extreme Film - HDTVSpring on the Kancamagus - Letus Extreme Film - HDTV
Tue, 20 May 2008 17:07:28 -0400

I shot, edited and narrated a short documentary of my travels down the famous Kancamagus Highway (route 112) in New Hampshire.
With record snowfall in the area this winter, I wanted to see how much snow remained. I also wanted to see how high the lakes, streams and rivers were.
I hiked into Sabaday Falls with my Sony PMW-EX1 fitted with a Letus Extreme 35mm film lens adapter, a Vinten Vision 3 tripod, my homemade dolly system and my bag of lenses.
The waterfall was spectacular. The water was very high. I did not bump into another soul while I was shooting. I had to make two trips in with all my gear, leaving the dolly track near the falls while I snowshoed back to the car to pick up the more expensive gear.
The weather was overcast most of the morning and dry, but around 11am while I was at Sabaday Falls, the rain began to fall.
I was slipping and siding all over the place trying to lay dolly track in the rising waters of the very cold stream. I decided, after almost dropping my EX1 in the drink, to head out and shoot another day.
I got enough footage to write a story around and I edited it on my Mac Book Pro in my car while the rain blasted the windshield.
I edited the short using Final Cut Pro. I used the three way color corrector to add some saturation. I graded the color in each shot using Magic Bullet Looks.
Please go to my website, tomguilmette.com for my blog on the trip and production stills from behind the scenes.

Driving To Work - Time LapseDriving To Work - Time Lapse
Tue, 20 May 2008 17:07:04 -0400

This is a time lapse I shot today as I was going to work. I started the video from the gas station by the corner of my house. I used my little Canon SD550.
Unfortunately the camera decided to stop recording after 20 minutes, so I have a real time gap of about a minute before I could hit the record button again, about halfway through you see a jump between the 2 clips.
I pushed the passenger seat back all the way and set up the tripod on the floor.

Based on this year’s main theme “PLAY”, I along with a handful of leading designers in the industry was given the challenge of producing an animation that interprets our own unique form of the meaning “PLAY=COMMUNICATION”.

The Blackbird video is a collaborative music visualization project by Katja Schweiker and Thomas Frenzel. The video was done for Michael Fakeschs audio-visual project called VIDOS—a collection of music visualizations based on his album DOS. The video will find its place on the upcoming VIDOS DVD release among some of the most renowned filmmakers, designers and motion graphic artists.
The video‘s design is based on collage-like visual samples that quote Michael Fakeschs auditory style and mixes analog with digital elements—metaphors of the material and the immaterial and therefore objects of the real and the dream world. This composition creates kind of surrealistic environments. The brief plot is about trying and failure—trying to leave behind, trying to live in a forward-turned way, trying not to resign or surrender and finally trying to get aware.
Music: Michael Fakesch and Taprikk Sweezee

Label: !K7 Records
Length: 1.35 min
The VIDOS project is curated by Cornelia and Holger Lund/Fluctuating Images. Thanks to Patrick Schuler.

We moved the Virb.com offices to Back Bay in Boston. Which is awesome. We are about 4 blocks from Copley Square on Beacon Street. Also awesome. I love it. It's a nice and cozy little place with red walls, where the four of us in Boston (Dave, Stephen, Brad and I) will be merrily chipping away at the new Virb 2 that will be launching May 2008.
