1813 Plantation Desk

This is a wonderful, very old, handmade Plantation Desk [we think that`s what it is] has a date inside of 1813. Has 3 letters ``gOD``. Everyone thinks this says God, but because of the small ``g`` it would mean they are initials. Back in the early 1800`s they would never disrespect God by spelling with a small ``G``. Also has some other letters, but they are very scrolly, and I can`t tell what they say. If your interested email me, and I can send more pictures.
It looks like it was painted at one time, then striped. There is old white paint in the cracks on some parts of hinges. Looks like hinges are hand made, still has some original ...I don`t know what to call them, they are not screws, but metal pegs that are melted, and pounded down. There are some old screws in some of them too.
The inside has a handmade piece that is shaped like an arrow, and would fit into lock. These also are attached by handmade pegs, but these have the tops coming threw the top, and are about 1/2`` diameter. Sides are dovetailed, and does have a brass plate where lock would be, but this isn`t as old as other hardware.
I have been told by a primitives dealer that this is a very fine primitive.
It is so neat the way it was handmade.

This cute box has no front or back, but does have 2 dividers which give 4 spaces for storage. Box is made of Mahogany and has a wonderful warm patina to stain and as a bonus is dovetailed together with 3 large dovetails.

Great old metal 5 shade Chandelier with white paint which has lots of great nicks and scratches on the paint. The wonderfully shaped globes are cream color with removeable wire tops. The shaft of the Chandelier has 3 areas made of crystal. Works and plugs into outlet. Globes are in very good condition except of few tiny chips, but you can`t see them, they are at bottom under where light bulbs are.

The classic style of this very old Granitware Collender is a must for a collector of neat stuff. This Collander has much history behind it. It is very used. Has a wonderful aged look. Bottom stand is rusted, and bent, and rest of Collander has lots of neat wear marks. I only buy Granitware with wear marks. Wear marks document the history of an item. Has dark green band around rim, and stand, and dark green handles.
Use on counter for fruit, display a bunch of old childs blocks as I did collection of balls, or even a silk plant.

This great piece is stained the dark oak color, and is good condiiton. Top has some scratches, and spots, but could be refinshed, and some wear marks around drawer pulls from the fingers. Mirror is in great condition, except for one small spot on top of mirror. Most people want a preloved look so you can tell it is not a reproduction.
There is carving going down each side on front, on each arm holding mirror, and bottom of mirror bracket (the piece of wood that holds the arms on). Two drawers have a dangling tear drop style drawer pulls that are very unique. There are holes in middle of tear drops.

Cottage Style 1850``s Dresser

Great old dresser from around the 1850`s that was called ``Cottage Style``. this piece was usually included in a bedroom set and was painted. Well the paint has been gone for many, many years, but dresser still has a wonderful look.

I was told this great find was made out of Mahogony, it`s very heavy, but I`m not sure. Someone else said it was made from Pine, but it is to heavy for Pine and wood seems too hard for Pine. Drawers have handmade dovetail, and also has a scalloped bottom. Dresser has nicks and scratches, but is in very good condition for it`s age. Email me for more pictures. Even has wood castors for easy moving.

Drawer fronts are made from 1`` wood which is not very common, and all the lock parts have been removed.
Front corners are cut at an angle so there aren`t any sharp corners.

This would look great in Foyer, bedroom, bathroom, hall, even dinning room as a server. Has lots of storage space.

Dark Oak Dresser 484.99
Dark Oak Dresser

This beautiful piece of Dark Oak furniture might of been a old hotel piece. It has 3 drawers with the original hardware and wood coasters. The dark finish has a wonderful look (warm and homey) which you don`t find with todays furniture.
The wood piece that goes across the top of mirror and holds mirror together looks like it could be pine. But the rest of dresser is oak. The mirror (which is beveled) is finished off with a beautiful 7 inch high carved piece. I think the carving is larger than most you see. But the rest of the dresser is Oak.
The mirror also has very fancy top corners with carved leaves type of carving under the corners.

The condition is very good considering how old it is and how much use a dresser receives. The top has some black spots on it. One is about 1 inch by 2 inches and another one is 2 inches by about 2 inches but this one is not a solid spot. There are also a few other smaller black marks which could be from a cigerette or just wear, plus a few nicks. The two bigger spots could be from mens after shave or womens perfume. We were told at an antique furniture seminar that this is normal since they contained alcohol and should not be removed since this is a big part of the history. The mirror is in good condition too. Has a few blemishes, some typical marks,and some wear around the edges of the mirror, but all in all, good condition. It is better than most mirrors I`ve seen.

This great Eastlake side table can be used in so many places. It is in very good condition. Has a few small nicks, and small 1/4 inch scratch of white paint (which might come off). Very Old Graniteware Strainer or Sifter is a real find. It is in good condition for it`s age. It is the brown spackled pattern, and has only one small hole on bottom edge that came from use. There are 43 holes in bottom that were made in the Strainer. There is also a slit about 3 1/2``L on side of Strainer. I think this slit is where a handle slides threw.

Big, old, very used is great words to describe this neat Enamelware bowl.
It is a light green color with a dark green band around edge of bowl.
I wonder how much food was made in this bowl through the years. It was well used. Bowl has 3 holes in bottom, and 2 holes were plugged by rivets. I love the way people ``made do`` with what they had. Back than people didn`t have the money to go buy a new bowl, they ``made do``. That is just like darning socks. When was the last time anyone darned a sock. Bowl also has dents and worn spots. Very old, very handmade small stool is a true hard to find, primitive.
You can see the hand saw marks on top, which do not have straight cuts. Legs are each different. 2 legs are a squareish cut, 2 are round, and all are held in to top with old fabric or very old nails. Legs come through top, which have knife or axe marks (like they were chopping something).
This is great example of how they could ``make do`` with what they had.

Handmade Mini Stool 89.99
Unique little mini stool, or table was handmade and is old. Don`t know if it was a salesman sample or not, but I think it is to primitive to be. The top is a Stop Sign shape, and the shelf is a square. The way it is constructed is very ingenous. The painting is also very primitive. You can tell this person wasn`t a professional painter. Paint is old, cracked, and chipping off. One leg had a bad run in with a dog. It is chewed up at the bottom. Maybe legs were to small for a dog, could be a rat tooth marks, either way, it adds to the history of this stool.

Harvest Table 1299.99
This fantastic old Harvest Table is the result of a perfect marriage [sorry we don`t have the marriage license]. The top was destroyed by Hurricane Charley, Jean and Francis, but the base was saved, and in great condition.
We took an old barn door from Aunt Emma`s barn, which is about 100 years old. The barn started out as a small house where Aunt Emma was born, sometime later, a barn was built around it. The barn was blown down during Hurricane Charley so we took the old barn door, made a beautiful table top out of the old Cypress wood, and added Black Walnut pegs. The top was planned down, [only top, underside of door still is original], and was made with breadboard ends. The top was than rubbed with Mineral Spirits, and 3 coats of Bowling Alley wax was applied. The results are fantastic.
The base had a dark finish, and is now painted a beautiful dark green, than had some paint rubbed off. Has a wonderful antique look.
But wait there`s more. The legs are from about the 1920`s, and are mortise and tenon. Mortise and tenon means a hole was cut through the leg to recieve a projection part of the apron [tenon] throught it. Makes it very sturdy.

Jug has rusty wood and wire handle, and black paint is about half off. Jug is in good condition, and doesnt have any chips, cracks, or repairs. Jug is pot marked, but it was made that way they're in the clay and glaze. Bottom isn't glazed, and doesn't have any mark, but this jug is old. I don't see many like this around. This is a Hurricane Charley survivor. Has wonderful look.

Neat old shuffle board sticks (2) are made from bamboo sticks.
At the top, sticks have 2 metal frngers (that cradle pucks), and have wood pieces at ends. There is colored pieces of tape strips along stick. One stick has 2 address stickers on it. This very old trap is a must for collectors, or someone who wants something different.
Trap is made of white metal which is rusty, and has a handle on top for carring. On one end is a door that opens to let animal out, and other end has hole to let catch in. There is another door that opens when animal gets in and than can`t get back out. Bottom is flat. We don`t know what kind of animal this is for, but it is so cool.

Doll house sides are made of pine, roof and floor of plywood. There is a stamped mark on top of door says`` OO Community``. Doll house is nailed together and wood has turned dark around nails. There is a door opening on front and both sides, and back is open.
Would be fun to play with, but would look great with slik plant coming out of doors. Many, many more uses, I just can`t think of any at the moment.

Very unique metal playground Squirrel is so much fun.
This Squirrel hung by 4 chains at the Valders School in Wisconsin. Kids used to ride Squirrel back and forth. Alot of the paint is worn off. This unique primitive dollhouse is made from old wood and spindles. It is a really great country focal point for any room. Dollhouse has weathered white gray and green paint. The front of house is made from old bead board. The porch columns are old spindles. The back is open and has two shelves, one 11``high and the other is 9 1/2``high. I think someone took old barn wood and made this dollhouse from wood. I don`t think dollhouse itself is really old, but it has a wonderful very primtive look.

This very old dry measure is made from a long piece of wood bent in circle and goes around twice to form bucket. Another long narrow piece of wood is bent in circle and goes around twice to form the rim. Has wood bottom. Has a small 2 1/2`` piece of old metal which I think went from one side around bottom and up other side. Has a few holes where it wore through. Condition consistant with age. Very old, very primitive, very neat. If you collect primitives this is a must. Would be great in bathroom for towels and wash clothes, or just a silk plant. $63.99

This very old pie safe is from Georgia, and has alot of history behind it.
It is in very used condition with lots of great scratches, chipping, and peeling brown paint. The screen is very old, I think original, and has 1 drawer. This old beauty has 2 shelves which are original shelves which have broke into pieces so neat. Top is slanted backwards. I`ve been told that is the way it should be, but for the life of me, can`t figure out why.
I see alot of Pie Safes around, but most are newly made with old wood. If you want an authentic primitive, this one is for you. Think of how many pies have been made, and all the problems and happy times this great piece has seen.

Very cute Pine Primitive Chest would be great next to a couch, bed, even in foyer or kitchen. This find even has square nails, and is from around 1850`s or so. Someone has added a few newer nails here and there, but you don`t even notice them.
This piece is very used and worn, and even has a few ``make do`` repairs. ``Make do`s`` are what repairs were called way back. Top has a few very old worm holes and is uneven from wear. At one time a long, long time ago there was a latch, but that is gone and that hole has been patched. Shelf inside has been cut and worn away where the latch was hitting.

I think this piece was painted and refinished at one time, but has a great patina. I love this piece. It has a great look.

Primitive Wood Trunk 293.99
This is a beautiful, very, very old, primitive wood trunk that has been waxed for a wonderful aged look. The grain is beautiful on this great piece.
We think that at one time it was covered in fabric, but at some point in it`s life the fabric was taken off, stained and waxed. The craftsman did a fantastic job.
This came from my own private collection, and is one of my favorites.
The inside is very clean, and refinished too. Don`t have to worry about anything you put in it. Has a very old metal knob to open top.

Red Feather Society Banner 93.99
This Red Feather Society Banner is a unique find, which was made before there was a United Way. At this time the Red Cross was part of Red Feather Society. Great in office, bathroom, recreation room, or even in waiting room.
When the Red Feather Society changed to United Way, Red Cross went on it`s own. Metropolitan means Crusade of Mercy was for a Metropolitan area and since I found this around Chicago might be for Chicago area. Banner is reversible with one little hole in one corner. Red is still very vibrant. There are some dirt marks on both sides of white. The marks might come out. I haven`t tried yet. Even with the dirty marks still in good condition. This is a wonderful find. Never saw another one like it. Banner about 6 feet x 44`` wide.

Rivet Catcher 89.99
This is an old rivet catcher from shipbuilding, which was used before welding.
Don`t see many of these. I only know how they work from old movies. There was a man who heated the rivets up till they were red hot, than he would throw the rivet to a man who would catch the hot rivets with this. The rivet catcher would slide the hot rivet out the bottom and the rivetor would finsh the job. Not much rust, but bottom of the handle is not attached where it meets the metal cone. Really neat. Wonderful shape for it`s age.

Entire piece is in wonderful condition for the age.
Buffet has 3 drawers across the top which the middle drawer has a silver cloth and key hole. It also has 1 long drawer which will be great for table cloths and a 2 door cupboard with keyholes and wooden knobs on drawers. Legs are carved out.
Beveled mirror is original and is in wonderful condition.It has some white spots and a few blemishes on the mirror, but very good for it`s age. They are hardly noticable. You won`t find mirrors this age in better condition, and those blemishes are what makes antiques so homey.

Union Leader Cut Plug tin is a real blast from the past.
Tin is all metal with 2 handles. Top says ``Union Leader Cut Plug``, in small circle says ``P. I Oriliard Co. Established 1760``. There is also drawing of eagle standing on box which says ``Union Leader Cut Plug, Smokeless Chew``. This tin has wear marks, and scratches, but is one of the better condition tins I have seen.
Great for tin collector, or just to display on shelf.

This wonderful, unique Walnut Stepback Cupboard has very unusual carving on the top and was made about 1840 1870. We have been told it was built as a library piece. This is a true find.

Very old, very primitive wood sledge hammer has been used lots. Looks like it is handmade, out of Burl wood. The handle (which is a tree branch), is shimed into Burl wood piece with small pieces of wood and an old nail. It weighs about 5 pounds.
Around the head on each side are railroad spikes which we think held on a piece of hide.
Imagine lifting this hundreds of times.
This is a fantastic primitive and will look great in the house, porch or in garden. This is a real find.
